About Scholar

Mufti Waseem Akhtar is a distinguished Islamic scholar, Mufti, researcher, and Shariah advisor with extensive experience in Islamic jurisprudence, Fatwa research, Islamic banking, and modern financial matters. He has been serving the Ummah through Fatwa services, academic teaching, Shariah compliance, and research for more than two decades.

He is currently serving as the Head of Shariah Compliance at K-Electric since 2021 and has also been associated with various leading Islamic financial institutions and advisory bodies, including Saylani Welfare Trust Pakistan, ASAS Shariah Advisory Services, and Al-Nasay Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Mufti Waseem Akhtar is an approved Shariah Advisor & Auditor by SECP and possesses specialized expertise in Islamic banking, Sukuk structuring, Shariah audit, compliance, Islamic finance training, and contemporary financial issues. He has conducted workshops and training sessions for institutions such as the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and various educational organizations.

In the field of Fatwa and Islamic research, he has issued approximately 18,000+ Fatawa and Shariah verdicts since 1999. He has served as the Head Mufti of Dar-ul-Ifta Faizan-e-Shariat, a research scholar at Jamia Naeemia Karachi, and Head of the Shariah Department at Saylani Welfare Trust.

Alongside his research and Fatwa services, he has remained actively engaged in Islamic education and teaching. He has taught at renowned institutions including Jamiah Naeemia Karachi, Jamiah Dar-ul-Uloom Memon, Jamia-Tul-Mustafa, and Jamia-Tul-Madina. He is also associated as a visiting faculty member with institutions such as IBA-CEIF, NIBAF, ICAP, and SZABUL.

His research interests include Islamic banking, cryptocurrency, Shariah compliance, Islamic financial applications, and contemporary jurisprudential issues. He is the author and supervisor of several notable works, including Waseem ul Fatawa, Ahkaam e Shariat Mein Urf ki Ahmiyat, and research on cryptocurrency and share trading in Islamic finance.

Mufti Waseem Akhtar holds advanced Islamic and academic qualifications, including Takhasus Fil Fiqh wal Ifta, M.Phil. from the University of Karachi, and specialized certifications in Islamic banking and AAOIFI Shariah standards.

Through his scholarly services, teaching, Fatwa research, and Shariah advisory work, Mufti Waseem Akhtar continues to contribute towards authentic Islamic guidance and the development of Islamic finance according to the principles of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
